Last Day

I love Divisoria. For me, it’s the ultimate shopper’s heaven. Whatever you want, they’ve got it. The price of a product there is mega cheap compared to the price at the mall of the very same item.
DV as most people call it, has its drawbacks. But I don’t mind. I’ll still go and shop at DV even though people would say that it’s too crowded, there are many pickpockets, the quality of products are inferior, the place is dirty, and the likes.
The products I often look for in Divisoria are sportswear. I love buying basketball jerseys, shorts, and sports paraphernalia. I buy them for my own use, I buy them as gifts for others, and I buy them for my once-upon-a-time RTW business.
On a recent pre-Christmas shopping expedition, I happen to see something that really caught my attention. As I was going down an escalator, I saw an unusual volume of people gathered on a certain store. They were crazily rummaging over piles of clothes in that stall. More and more shoppers continued to join them. I wondered why all these people rush in that store while the other shops didn’t get that kind of attention from the passer-by.
Then I saw a large sign at the entrance of the store, above the piles of clothes. It was a large and long cardboard banner with spray-painted lettering. The sign says: LAST DAY.
Upon seeing that sign, I rushed in also. I squeezed my way thru an ocean of mad shoppers. Together with them, I dug my arms into the pile of clothes that were really affordable. The quality of these products also seems nice. I was able to buy a couple of basketball shorts and some superhero shirts. I was so happy with my bargain sale. I felt so fulfilled.
A few days later, I came back to Divisoria. It’s our practice to return to DV in between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day to do our “pahabol” shopping. We buy gifts for people we missed out during Christmas.
I passed by the place where I bought my superhero shirts, and I was so shocked to see that the store was still there, and the very same LAST DAY banner was still there hanging at the entrance! Oh my! I realized that the store’s name was actually LAST DAY. I’ve been tricked!
Then I remembered an old Bible study lesson. In the last days, things would be tricky. Jesus said that there would be many “false Christs”. People would put their hope on people and things that they believe would give them a sense of security, prosperity, and a bright future. But in the end, they would end up with regrets.
Matthew 25:4–5 (NASB) says: “And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will mislead many people.”
My friend, who or what drives your life? Who or what is leading you in your daily life? Be sure you are not being misled. Be sure you are walking in the right direction. Make Jesus your guide, he is the true Messiah. You will never be disappointed.
